Practical Purposeful Play – If I had a hammer!

Our Purposeful Play session focused on practical activities for the pupils to participate in. The theme of the session was building. Some chose to be builders, building the tallest towers out of mega blocks, whilst others chose to be architects, designing buildings that they would like to live in.

Our favourite challenge was the carpentry sector. Pupils hammered in nails to create designs of buildings, also refining their fine motor skills.

SALT Communication Session

Sarah Morris led an engaging and interactive communication session for LB 1 on Monday. The focus was on listening and the class played many games centered on listening, retrieving as well as taking turns.

Goodbye and Good Luck Year 6!

6MT and 6CW what can we say? What a wonderful year group you have been. You’ve made us laugh, you’ve made us proud, and you’ve kept us busy! On to the next step of your journey – we know that you will all go on to do amazing things and we look forward to hearing news of your adventures and achievements! Good Luck in the future and pop back and see us some time!

A final word from our Head Boy and Head Girl

Evie – I have really enjoyed my time here at Lickey. It’s been so much fun and a privilege to be head girl. I am really proud of our school and the children in it and I will miss them all so much.

Will – It’s been an honour to go to Lickey Hills Primary School and to be voted in as Head Boy. The staff here have been great and have helped me to Dream, Believe and Achieve. I am excited for the future and feel well prepared for sec-ondary school.
Thank you Lickey!

Teddy Bears Picnic

Nursery enjoyed having a teddy bears picnic on the field yesterday.

LB1’s exciting week

This week we celebrated Chinese new year.  We watched some beautiful Chinese dancers.  They danced a fan dance and an umbrella dance.

We tried Tai Chi with 1SH in the hall.

We made Chinese lanterns and dragon masks.

We also tried Chinese food including;- noodles, rice, spring rolls and rice crackers.

We were given a red envelope to take home with us, with a special treat inside.

Freddie and Alex brought in ornaments from different countries for show and tell.

Measuring

In Maths this week Year One have learnt about measuring using non-standard units and standard units. We learnt to measure using cubes, paper clips, our hands and feet and  a ruler to measure in centimetres.

Castles

Year One have been learning all about castles. We have talked about the features of castles and have found out how they helped to protect the people inside.

Here are some of the castles we made ourselves.  Can you spot the drawbridge, battlements, portcullis and arrow slits?

 arrow slits?

1KG Class Assembly

A massive well done to 1KG on their amazing assembly on Celebrations. It was lovely to hear all the positive comments from parents, grandparents and staff. Miss Salisbury was so impressed with all our hard work that she gave us a Headteacher’s Award.

3HC’s Assembly

3HC had a wonderful time practising their assembly where they learnt lots about the Stone Age to the Iron Age in a kinesthetic ,fun approach.  Though they were nervous, they really enjoyed performing! Thank you for watching and supporting us throughout the experience.

A-ha O-oh Tracks in the snow!

Who lives in this cave?  The children have been describing characters from The Gruffalo’s Child and exploring her cave.  They followed different footprints to find out which animal left them and made their favourite animal character from this story.  Can you guess which character they created?
