GDPR – The General Data Protection Regulation.
New GDPR regulations 25th May 2018
The EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is designed to “harmonise” data privacy laws across Europe as well as give greater protection and rights to individuals. These changes will affect everyone, and every organisation, in some way. As a school, we are classed as “data controllers” and as such we need to state how and why personal data is processed and ensure we abide by data protection laws. Once the new legislation comes in to effect, controllers must ensure personal data is processed lawfully, transparently, and for a specific purpose. We are currently complying with the Data Protection Act 1998, and are very experienced at working within such regulations.
It will be necessary to make some changes to policies and procedures in readiness for 25th May and we will use the website to post updates over the coming weeks.
