Learning in Summer 1:

For the Summer 1 Half Term, our  History topic we will be learning all about the Titanic  Our focus will be on our Golden Threads Legacy and Knowledge, learning all about where the ship was going, the different type of passengers, what life was like on board and why it sadly sank.  In other curriculum areas, we will learn about volume, 2D and 3D shapes in maths; our reading and writing in English will be inspired by the fantastic tale of, 'Wanted a Perfect Pet', by Fiona Robertson and a super story called 'The Disgusting Sandwich' by Gareth Edwards. We are learning about plants and what they need to grow in science and learning what  it means to belong to a faith community in RE.

Spellings will be sent out on Mondays to practice at home before the tests on the following Monday. Current spellings can be found online on the link to the right. Maths fluency questions are likewise set on Wednesday and due back by the following Monday. We also strongly encourage the children to read at least three times a week at home. Finally, we will be embarking on our Mastering Number home learning project - keep an eye out for the games appearing in children's folders!

Please make sure children wear their PE kits for our sporting activities: we have PE and Games on Mondays and Tuesdays. Monday PE lessons will be outdoors (weather permitting) and you may wish to consider your child having a tracksuit for the day. This must be PLAIN navy please. Please make sure all earrings are removed or covered with tape before school on these days.
