How Does Our Garden Grow?

Before Easter, LB1 planted some potatoes and today we went to check on them. They have shot up and are looking quite leafy now but we found that we had some weeds to clear away. Everyone worked together hoeing and pulling up weeds, even clearing some of the other beds ready for planting.

Afterwards, we planted some flowers seeds in pots. We can’t wait for them to pop up in a week or two!

Easter activities.

Well, here we are at the end of another term (where does the time go?). After a lovely Easter assembly this morning where we listened to the Easter story from Emma (Lickey Church), we have been busy making our Easter cards. We had to practice our listening skills in order to carefully follow each step; some us learned the new skill of weaving (‘over, under, over, under‘ and then ‘under, over, under, over…).

Also, one of our Year 4 children gained his penmanship licence today. It was a real pleasure seeing the unexpected surprise on his face when he received his handwriting pen. He was able to use it to write in his Easter card.

For Fresh Fruit Friday we tried fig.  Some liked it and some disliked the crunchy texture; at least everyone tried it.

We enjoyed our Afternoon Tea with with LB1 and  ate cake, mini chocolate eggs (naturally) and hot cross buns (which link with our current Year 3 RE theme ‘The Last Supper.’)

Please have a happy and safe Easter holiday – I hope the weather is kind so that we can all spend some time out of doors.

I will hopefully be back sometime to see how our children are getting on…maybe in the summer term. Love from Mrs Jones.

Easter hunt

The Easter bunny surprised us with a delivery of eggs in our garden to find today and even better was that they had a chocolate surprise inside!

Easter bonnet parade

Thank you to all the parents who helped make beautiful Easter bonnets and joined our parade this morning. The children have really enjoyed themselves.

Easter Bonnet Parade

We had a very eggciting morning parading around the play ground showing off our fantastic creations. Thank you to everyone who came, we hope you have a lovely Easter break.

Fresh Fruit Friday

Today we had a taste of watermelon and kiwi. Everyone tried both fruits and some of us even had it for the first time – which is great to see the children trying new things and building experiences; also deciding on likes and dislikes too.

Levers, Gears & Pulleys

Year 5 have been learning how to increase a force by exploring a series of activities with levers, pulleys and gears. We found out that although the force could be increase we needed a larger movement (pulling or turning) to achieve it. We related our learning to real life situations such as wheelbarrows, our arms, car gears and cranes.

Mother’s Day Sweet Treat

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our mother’s day event we hope you enjoyed the scones!
