Welcome to the Year 3 web page. In 3RF you will find Dr Fishwick and in 3SB you will find Mrs Brooks. Helping children across both classes you will find the wonderful Mrs Room. If you have any concerns or queries, do not hesitate to get in touch with the school office.

For Unit 1, our writing will look at ‘The Green Ship’, tale of imagination and friendship, from illustrator, Quentin Blake. In maths we will be concentrating on place value before moving on to addition and subtraction. Year 3 will also become 'The School of Rock' as our science topic 'Remarkable Rocks' exploring the geology of the Earth runs alongside our history topic examining Stone Age Britain and how people's lives have changed over time.
This year, one class will have Forest School whilst the other enjoys music and art. For the first Unit, 3RF will have Forest School on Friday afternoons, whilst 3SB will be exploring Vincent Van Gogh and looking at rhythms used in calypso music. The two classes will swap over in Unit 2 (November). Information about Forest School and what they need to wear will be communicated before each Unit, but note that children doing Forest School do not need to wear uniform on that day.
Spellings will be tested on a Monday. Current spellings can be found below. Maths home learning is likewise set on Wednesday and due back by the following Monday and pupils are also encouraged to use Times Tables Rock Stars at home to become more confident with multiplication and division facts. In addition, we strongly encourage the children to read at least three times a week at home.
In PE in Unit 1, will will be looking at gymnastics and hockey. Please make sure you have your PE kits in school for our sporting activities on Monday and Tuesday. For outdoor PE you may wish your child to have a plain navy tracksuit for the day. Please send your child to school in their kit on their PE day, see the School Uniform webpage for more information. Please make sure all earrings are removed or covered with tape before school on PE days.
