For Unit 3, our writing will look at 'The Bluest of Blues' by Fiona Robinson This is a beautiful account of how the first photographs came to exist. It takes us through the life of Anna Atkins and explores her hobbies and interests. In maths we will be completing our multiplication and division unit before moving onto fractions. Please ensure you complete the weekly Maths Home learning as it embeds our learning studied so far.In Science, we will be looking at light and how it affects our daily lives and some of the science behind it. Meanwhile, our History topic for this term builds on the knowledge we acquired when studying the Stone Age. We will be looking at the bronze Age through to the Iron Age and discovering what uses the people made of bronze and how they lived.
In Art, we will be embedding our knowledge of the Impressionist painters by looking at the work of Claude Monet, his life and his most famous works.
Spellings will be tested on a Monday. Current spellings can be found below. Maths home learning is likewise set on Wednesday and due back by the following Monday and pupils are also encouraged to use Times Tables Rock Stars at home to become more confident with multiplication and division facts.
In addition, we strongly encourage the children to read at least three times a week at home.
In PE in Unit 3, will will be looking at ball skills and yoga. Please make sure you have your PE kits in school for our sporting activities on Monday and Tuesday. For outdoor PE you may wish your child to have a plain navy tracksuit for the day. Please send your child to school in their kit on their PE day, see the School Uniform webpage for more information. Please make sure all earrings are removed or covered with tape before school on PE days.
