Welcome to the Year 3 web page. In 3HM you will find Miss Moore and in 3ST you will find Miss Taylor. Helping children across both classes you will find the wonderful Mrs Room. If you have any concerns or queries, do not hesitate to get in touch with the school office.

Unit 1 Overview

In English, we will be studying 'The Green Ship' by Quentin Blake. Children will then have the opportunity to write to entertain - by writing a character description. We will explore the perspective of the main characters, helping them to develop their understanding of appearance and personality in a fun and creative way.

In Maths, we will be looking at place value, counting in hundreds, tens and ones, comparing and ordering numbers.

In Science, we have started an exciting new topic on Magnificent rocks! Children will be learning about different types of rocks and conducting experiments to compare.

In History, we are beginning our new topic on the Stone Age!

In Reading, we will be predicting, retrieving, summarising and using inference skills on our new text 'The Stone Age Boy'. This links in to our History unit.

P.E. Days:

Year 3 will have P.E. on Mondays and Fridays. Please send your child to school in their kit on their PE day, see the School Uniform webpage for more information.  Please make sure all earrings are removed or covered with tape before school on PE days.

Home Learning and Spellings:

Spellings are tested every Monday, and homework is given out every Wednesday with the expectation to be returned on a Monday. Children are encouraged to read at home at least three times a week to support their learning across the curriculum. 

TTRS:

Children will also have access to TTRS and Numbots - this can help to support mathematics (Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division). Log-Ins will be stuck into home learning books.
