Wishing everyone a happy and healthy 2026. Spring term begins with a seasonal Wintery topic as part of out 'All Things Bright and Beautiful theme. We will explore signs of Winter and make observations about changes in our environment as well as explore the change in water, We will discover far away colder climates and look at both Antarctica and the Arctic. The half term ends with Pancake day and Valentines day. We will be recognising Children's Mental Health Week, Internet Safety Week and NSPCC Number Day.

Our chosen key text is ‘Blue Penguin’ by Petr Horacek, where we focus ofn the themes of identify and belonging. There are beautiful illustrations to develop further understanding and vocabulary around our Wintery theme and we explore dreams, relating to our own experiences.

Children receive two books each week: an independent book marked with an 'I', which are books children should be confident to read without support and a supported book marked with an 'S', where there may be a few words that you may need to help your child with. Children will also choose a class library book each week for you to enjoy sharing together. This one is ideal to further support your child with their comprehension skills.

Please return the communication folder every Monday morning with the reading diary and books so that they can be returned to you each Tuesday afternoon. We ask that children read each reading book over at least three days each week. Please make sure you clearly indicate in your reading diary that you have done this.There are also additional books shared on Oxford Owl so please see Evidence Me for further weekly suggestions.

PE - Reception has PE on a Tuesday. Please send your child to school in their kit on these days. Please make sure all earrings are removed or covered with tape before school on these days.
