Summer term continues with our 'Underground,Overground,Wandering Free' theme. This time we will be exploring places further afield. We will learn about the rainforest and compare these hot climates to the colder climates of Antarctica and the Arctic, which we learnt about earlier this year. We will also explore seaside habitats and go under the sea.Transition is also a big theme for this half term as we get ready for moving into Key Stage 1. This half term includes many special celebrations and events including Sport's day, Father's day, transition and a charity run for Dogs for Life.

We finish our chosen key text ‘Grandpa's Island' by Benji Davies, where we learn about families, hopes and dreams, travel and different localities before introducing our last key text 'Splash' by Atinuke where we learn about life in Africa and family.

Children receive two books each week: an independent book marked with an 'I', which are books children should be confident to read without support and a supported book marked with an 'S', where there may be a few words that you may need to help your child with. Children will also choose a class library book each week for you to enjoy sharing together. This one is ideal to further support your child with their comprehension skills.

Please return the communication folder every Monday morning with the reading diary and books so that they can be returned to you each Tuesday afternoon. We ask that children read each reading book over at least three days each week. Please make sure you clearly indicate in your reading diary that you have done this. There are also additional books shared on Oxford Owl so please see Evidence Me for further weekly suggestions.

PE - Reception has PE on a Tuesday. Please send your child to school in their kit on these days. Please make sure all earrings are removed or covered with tape before school on these days.
