Autumn term begins with our 'Marvellous Me' theme. We begin by settling into our classes, becoming familiar with the environment, routines and expectations and developing relationships with both our teachers and other children. We will then continue to find out all about each other, recognising and appreciating our similarities and differences before learning about our bodies, including how to keep ourselves healthy. The half term ends learning about Autumn and Harvest.
We will share our first key text ‘Hello Friend' by Rebecca Cobb, where we explore different feelings, empathy and kindness, how to make friends and what a good friend looks like.
Initially, children will bring home one reading book. After the first few weeks, children will receive two books each week: an independent book marked with an 'I', which are books children should be confident to read without support and a supported book marked with an 'S', where there may be a few words that you may need to help your child with.
Please return the communication folder every Monday morning with the reading diary and books so that they can be returned to you each Tuesday afternoon. We ask that children read each reading book over at least three days each week. Please make sure you clearly indicate in your reading diary that you have done this. There are also additional books shared on Oxford Owl so please see Evidence Me for further weekly suggestions.
PE - Reception has PE on a Tuesday. Please send your child to school in their kit on these days. Please make sure all earrings are removed or covered with tape before school on these days.
