Shape dominoes

We’ve had a lovely morning working with our learning partners to play 2D shape dominoes. We matched the number of corners and sides to the correct shape. Once we had finished we had a go at making our own 3D shape dominoes game!

Penguin huddle

Reception have been learning all about penguins, where they live, what they eat and how they move.  We have been particularly interested the largest and heaviest of penguins,  the Emperor Penguin, because they spend their entire lives on the ice or in the surrounding waters of Antarctica.  We worked as a team on a very cold day, with a flurry of snow, to keep warm just like these penguins.  It was definitely warmer in the middle!

Playdough Penguins

We had great fun using our  fine motor skills to roll and shape play dough to create the penguin character from our story ‘Lost and Found.’

2D and 3D shape

Today in Maths we constructed 2D and 3D shapes using sticks and blutac. We counted the number of sides or edges the shape had and knew we needed that many sticks to make the shape. Look how well we did…

The Cave

Year 4’s classrooms became dark, eerie caves today as we used our senses to describe a cave setting. Here are just some of our amazing sentences:

Twisting, the cave disappeared into the darkness.

Huge, gleaming stalactites hung like daggers.

Wildly, the slippery dark tunnels twisted.

The damp, pebbly floor crunched eerily.

The wind echoed like a groaning ghost.

Animals that live in the rainforest

Today we have been learning all about the rainforest and the animals that live within. Everyone has been making a poster of an animal that lives in the rainforest, animals like tamarins, chameleons and lemars. Everybody has enjoyed doing this lesson and we are really exited to see how everybody’s will turn out to look like.

Y6 scary, suspense stories

In Year 6, we have been writing scary, suspense stories. We split them into 3 parts: opening, setting and conversation between characters. Check out some of our published stories:

Senses experiments

This afternoon we have really enjoyed using all 5 of our senses. We have done taste experiments and guessed what flavour crisps we have eaten, smelt lots of interesting smells in smelly pots, felt different things in feely bags, used our sight to spot things in pictures and used our hearing to guess what sounds we have listened to.

3D maps of South America!

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been really busy creating a 3D map of South America! We started by spreading salt dough on to a piece of cardboard in the shape of South America. We had to leave it for a few days to harden, but as soon as it was ready we painted each country. The final stage was to create flags for each of the countries. It was a huge team effort and I’m sure you will agree they look great! Can you spot the flag for Uruguay?

Can we persuade you?

We have been working very hard editing and publishing our persuasive writing. Our task was to persuade Miss Salisbury to agree to take us on a trip to Australia, similar to PGL.  We worked together in our teams to create our persuasive brochures on the display boards. Next, we had to pitch our company name and activities to Mrs Ray and Miss Taylor, who then chose the two best teams to pitch to Miss Salisbury! Take a look at some of our display boards below:
