Measuring
The children had a wonderful time using different types of measures to create different potions!
Woods Expedition
This week we finished off our explorers theme with a mini expedition to the woods. We thought about being explorers and what we would need to take with us. In the woods we looked around for suitable places that would make a good place to camp, and then built shelters that would keep our teddies safe and dry. We had a great time.
Our fantastic assembly!
Well done 2FT for performing a fantastic class assembly all about explores. The children performed, danced and sang wonderfully. They also spread a very important message…
We are all explorers, every day exploring the world through our learning here at school, at home, all the time. The world out there is waiting for us. There are still places to explore and adventures to be had.
Watch out world the bravest, most courageous explorers ever are here in 2FT!
International Day
The children really enjoyed International Day today. They made salsa, read a Spanish story and practised all of the Spanish words they know. They also learnt about Picasso and created some of their own pictures, as well as creating flags from different countries. Everyone had lots of fun learning Spanish songs and dances!
Eco Week
Today as part of eco week we have been learning about the bee’s waggle dance which tells the other bees where the plants are.
We have been designing bee friendly gardens, learning what flowers bees like best and we have learnt how to draw a bee.
We have also been going outside and planting bee friendly flowers.
Eco week
In 2LW this week we are learning about bees as part of eco week.
Yesterday we did the waggle dance .The bees do the waggle dance to tell the other bees where the food is.
Today we have been getting the flower bed ready to put in some bee friendly flowers. We have been designing a bee garden and found out about the bee life cycle.

Cosmic Classroom
Wow! Today we took part in Cosmic classroom – a live link-up with Tim Peake on the International Space station and children in UK classrooms (both primary and secondary) for a 20 minute Q&A session. It was awesome!
We all did some simple actions and watched how different Tim did it on the ISS. The best bit was watching him play tennis with a ball of water and seeing how much a fizzy vitamin tablet fizzed up inside the ball of water.
Weather
The children in year 2 have been very busy carrying out weather experiments this week. They have made clouds in a jar using warm water and ice, measured how far objects can be blown by the wind and have made tornadoes in a bottle. The children carried out these experiments and then wrote up their findings.
What is the weather?
On Tuesday we had a morning of science fun finding out all about different types of weather and how they occur. We made tornadoes, a cloud in a jar and explored which objects can be blown further by the wind. We discovered that when testing, we need to make the test fair to give us the right results.
To multiply or divide?
Today we have had great fun trying to make a maths loop using our times tables. We have had to do some really careful thinking to make sure our loop worked.
