LHPSN Just Giving Page for Birmingham Children’s Hospital
A team of staff, family and friends are running (or walking!) to support the family of one of our children who is being treated for leukemia at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

Oliver Portman, age 9, was diagnosed in January 2018 with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Type T. 7 weeks later following a major stroke, brain bleeds, several surgeries, including brain surgery, and chemotherapy, Oli is still smiling. He’s a real fighter! The staff at Birmingham Children’s Hospital have been amazing throughout, supporting Oliver and his wonderful family. The staff and Oli’s friends at LHPSN want to help repay their kindness by raising much needed funds for BCH Ward 15.
We welcome any donation, however small, which will go directly to Ward 15. Please give generously and come and cheer us on when we run on May 6th in the Birmingham 10K run. At Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, we believe there’s always more we can do for our sick kids and that’s why we will always strive to do more for our patients and families. It’s our mission to raise the vital funds needed to make a real difference to all who use our hospital.Your support empowers us to take innovative approaches to treating some of the sickest children in the UK. Your fundraising enables us to make our hospital feel just like home. Your donations are helping us to find new ways to treat and cure childhood diseases.

Egg-perimenting
Reception had fun investigating some runaway eggs this week. We looked at how the eggs rolled down a slope and made predictions about what would happen if we changed the surface of the slope. The children tested lots of materials including plastic, rubber, carpet and wood before we finally held an egg race.
World Book Day 2018
Despite the chilly weather Year 5 were dressed in some fantastic costumes today to celebrate World Book Day. We enjoyed presenting our characters to each other and we wrote alternative endings to the books that our characters came from. We finished the day with an assembly where we listened to the winning speeches from each Year group. What a super effort. Well done to all of you!
School Closure
The school will be closed on Friday 2nd March due to adverse weather conditions forecast overnight. Parent mail is experiencing difficulties so please share this message widely. This decision is not taken lightly, but I feel for the safety of our pupils, families and staff this is the right decision.
Kind regards,
Miss Salisbury
World Book Day 2018
Nursery enjoyed dressing up and talking about their book characters today. We enjoyed listening to some of our favourite stories and we were lucky to have a librarian come in and share a story with us too.
World Book Day
Thank you all for your amazing support of World Book Day!
World Book day in Reception
The children were really excited to share their story book character with their friends and our special visitor from the local library. She shared an amazing story all about a bear who wants to be a bee and lucky for us we get to take a copy home to share with our family.
