4AB Joins the Turtle Party….

This week we have focused on the sea turtles in which the Mediterranean is their home. We researched and talked about the issues why the turtles are endangered. The reasons were very complex, from global warming to irresponsible fishing. We learnt a lot and then produced posters which are to inform people about the dangers facing the turtles and also aim to persuade people to stop doing the things which are harming these precious creatures. Here are our posters and the amazing, talented and inspiring children that made them. IMG_0552 IMG_0554 IMG_0560 IMG_0553 IMG_0559 IMG_0558 IMG_0557 IMG_0556 IMG_0561 IMG_0562 IMG_0566 IMG_0567 IMG_0568

Turtle Power!

As part of our Mediterranean theme, Year 4 have been researching the dangers faced by sea turtles. Did you know that turtles mistake plastic carrier bags for jellyfish – one of their favourite foods! The things we do and choose to eat can have a huge impact on other creatures and so we made posters to spread he message.

Coastlines

As part of our Mediterranean theme, we’ve been learning about coasts. We found out that coastlines are not all beaches, there are cliffs, stacks, caves, and lots more features too. They don’t even stay the same because of erosion. In fact, we even found out that the Mediterranean once evaporated and turned into a desert!

…I conquered!

Our Design Technology project is complete – unleash the catapults! We completed the final assembly of our Roman military engineering, getting to use the glue guns in the process.

Then battle lines were drawn. The mighty armies of Oak and Beech versus the ferocious hoard of Ash and Chestnut.

We called it a draw.

Aztec Market

Today, 4RF ttravelled back to the year 1516 and held an Aztec market selling all sorts of produce familiar to the Aztecs but as yet unknown to Europeans. How could they not know what a potato or tomato was?

We practiced lots of maths, learnt about Aztec life and really got into our roles of market traders – there are some budding Del Boys out there…

Où sommes-nous?

We were very excited to be given airline tickets this afternoon – 4RF were going on a aeroplane! But where to?

Our in-flight reading provided a clue… We were off to France. We are going to learns lots about French history and geography this term. We enjoyed our flight and were really excited when we landed in Paris!
