A time for maths?

In maths we were estimating and timing  how long it took  us to do different  activities. such as sharpening a pencil, doing 12 star jumps or taking our shoes and putting them on again. Some of our estimations were close but some were a long way off! It was challenging but fun!

Plant Invasion!

Strange yellow containers of a brown, powdery material have been appearing on window sills throughout the school. It can only mean one thing… summer is finally here and everyone has started growing seeds! In Years 1 and 2, along with Language Base 1, the children have planted marigolds while LB1 have also planted sunflowers along with Language Base 2 and Year 3. We hope to plant these outside later in the year and we chose both flowers as they are beneficial to wildlife, providing nectar for butterflies and bees and a source of seeds for birds in the autumn.

Sports Relief’s Dance -athon

LB1 had  great fun learning new moves and putting them to dance music.  Thank you Miss Troth; we had a great day!

Running to Moscow.

As part of our run up (no pun intended!) to Sport Relief, here we are after 12 or more circuits of the junior playground feeling vitalised and refreshed!

World Book Day!

We celebrated World Book Day in school today where all the staff and children dressed up  as book characters.

In LB1 we chose the book ‘101 Dalmations’ as it characterises loyalty, courage , self belief and team work.

Taylor enjoyed,  ‘dressing up as  a  doggie as they are brave.’

Tea and cakes with the SEND Co-ordinator!

Unfortunately , the SEND governor was unable to attend our tea and cakes afternoon on Friday 16th February but Mrs Williams, SENDco was able to meet and chat with parents in Language Base.  Miss Morris, the speech and language therapist for KS2 was also available for advice and support.

We had a lovely afternoon eating cakes made by the children in Language Base and showcasing the many different ways we support children in the language base.  We showcased games and activities that we play to support our learning using multi sensory approaches.  We also demonstrated precision teaching,  repeated reading and fine/gross motor co-ordination programmes. Miss Morris discussed the great work that she and Mrs Spooner do on working on  the speech and language skills of the children.

A lovely afternoon was had by everyone.  A big thank you to all the parents who came , it was great to see so many of you.

Here are some highlights of the afternoon.IMG_1386[1]IMG_1387[1]

A Mystery Egg!

When the children arrived in class at the beginning of a January, they discovered a mysterious egg was in the classroom.

The children discussed what might be inside the egg. They wrote about  how the egg looked and felt. Look at what Azaan wrote…

They then discussed what the mystery object might be inside…

A tiny hole appeared in the egg.  We all shook the egg, tried to look through the hole! What can it be?

At the beginning of this week the egg hatched!!!!
