Henri Matisse

We’ve been learning about Henri Matisse and how his art evolved from earlier artists before becoming one of the most original and influential artists of the 20th century. Matisse was influenced by the Mediterranean Sea and we recreated an early painting before exploring his use of paper cut-outs later in his life.

Bones

We’ve been doing still life sketching today, using a range of pencil types from hard to soft to explore line and shading. But what to draw? To fit in with our science topic we’ve been drawing animals bones, particularly skulls. It was a bit strange at first but we’ve been able to study the shapes and the different teeth very closely.

We have been making life-sized pictures of Celts and Romans. We had to research what they looked like and then had great fun painting the different people.

Amazing Mosaics

4RF had fantastic fun making mosaics today. We created some great designs and then put them together to make one big “floor”. Now, how do we install authentic underfloor heating?  4RJ will be making their mosaics soon, so watch this space…
