Henri Matisse
We’ve been learning about Henri Matisse and how his art evolved from earlier artists before becoming one of the most original and influential artists of the 20th century. Matisse was influenced by the Mediterranean Sea and we recreated an early painting before exploring his use of paper cut-outs later in his life.

Vive la révolution!
We have been looking at the French Revolution and we made a piece of word art out of all the words and names to do with the Revolution. It was huge!
Bones
We’ve been doing still life sketching today, using a range of pencil types from hard to soft to explore line and shading. But what to draw? To fit in with our science topic we’ve been drawing animals bones, particularly skulls. It was a bit strange at first but we’ve been able to study the shapes and the different teeth very closely.

Roman Towns in Action
The past few weeks we have been looking at Roman villa.
We are making our own Roman villas and we are doing it in pairs.
At the end we are going to put them to together so it can be a Roman town.

Year 4’s Massive Mosaic
Year 4 have had lots of fun making mosaics and now we’ve put them altogether to make one great big wall. We think it looks amazing!

4RF have been drawing with chalk, white pencil and charcoal on black paper to explore light and darkness. It was really fun to draw with something different from pencil.
Who’s Marching Into Britain?
We have been making life-sized pictures of Celts and Romans. We had to research what they looked like and then had great fun painting the different people.
Amazing Mosaics
4RF had fantastic fun making mosaics today. We created some great designs and then put them together to make one big “floor”. Now, how do we install authentic underfloor heating? 4RJ will be making their mosaics soon, so watch this space…
