Super SATS Achievements for Year 6 Children
Well done Year 6 for achieving excellent SATs results this year. You have been a delight to have in school with your many skills and talents that we see in school in so many ways. The test results are a snapshot of what our pupils can do on one day but we value and celebrate achievements in many more things we’ve seen over the years ! That said, we’re very proud of our super results again … 71% of pupils achieved the expected standard in combined reading, writing and maths. In reading 74% of pupils met the standard with 24% achieving higher. In writing 82% of pupils met the standard with 34% achieving at greater depth. In maths 82% of pupils met the standard with 13% achieving higher. In spelling, punctuation and grammar 76% of pupils met the standard with 29% achieving higher. All results are higher than the national standards in 2016 and although emerging figures for 2017 show standards have risen nationally we predict our results will still remain above the national averages.
Wedding of the Year
In RE we’ve been looking at celebrations including weddings. To experience the event we decided to recreate a Christian wedding in order to look at some of the symbols and words associated with the ceremony and understand how it is an event shared with family and friends.
Aztec Weavers
We’ve had a fun afternoon having a go at weaving like the Aztecs. Remembering to go over-under-over-under (or was it under-over-under-over?) we’ve started making colourful pieces of fabric while getting a feel for everyday Aztec life. We’ve also talked about how modern fabrics are made in a similar way.
Our new Nursery
We have loved having our builder friends around over the last few months but it is lovely to now have a super new bathroom and cloakroom to use. We are very lucky. Thank you!
Lickey Scarecrow Festival
We worked together in nursery to stuff tights, paper mache a head and make linking chain curls for our wonderful scarecrow Goldilocks.
Wonderland
Nursery had a wonderful day out at Wonderland seeing the homes of many of our favourite, fairytale characters such as red riding hood and the three little pigs before going on some little rides.
New member of Reception
Reception are so happy with the new class member, he has made himself comfy in the reading area. Thank you year 5, we are enjoying cuddling up to him and sharing a story.
