Compass Skills

To practice measuring we’ve been learning how to use a compass to draw a circle. We learned about the radius and the diameter and how to set the compass to the correct radius. We then had fun drawing patterns using the compass.

Songs around the Christmas tree

The children in early years have been working very hard practising all their Christmas songs and dance routines ready for our Songs around the Christmas tree event.  On Thursday and Friday afternoon the children dressed up in their costumes and performed these songs in front of a live audience consisting of KS1, siblings and their parents/carers.

Well done boys and girls we are very proud of your professional performance.  A big thank you to all of the extra LHPSN staff for their help and support for the performances.  We had a great turnout, thank you to everyone who came along to support their child/children. Weren’t they all fantastic?

Potions Class

Year 4 had potions class this week. We had lots of ingredients like gillyweed and dragon’s blood and had to read how much of each ingredient there was. We then had lots of problems to solve using the liquids. We had lots of fun and nobody had to be sent to Professor Dumbledore.

…I conquered!

Our Design Technology project is complete – unleash the catapults! We completed the final assembly of our Roman military engineering, getting to use the glue guns in the process.

Then battle lines were drawn. The mighty armies of Oak and Beech versus the ferocious hoard of Ash and Chestnut.

We called it a draw.

Baubles!

Well done Key Stage One for a fantastic Christmas performance of ‘Baubles’! Everyone sang, danced and said their lines brilliantly.

Sound Proofing

Having made lots of noise during our sound topic, this week we explored how we could stop noise as we investigated sound proofing. Using a sound meter on the iPads we tested a range of materials to see which was best at blocking sound.

Christmas Singing Group

Many thanks to everyone who attended the concert and prize giving at Holy Trinity Church, Lickey last Sunday. Our fabulous choir will be singing again on December 14th at St. John’s Church, all welcome.
