Aboriginal Art!!!!!

In art we have been looking at the Australian Aboriginal art work this week, as we are learning about Australia. We planned the art work using markers and then got artistic using paints! They look fantastic especially as we used  cotton buds. Please take the time to have a look, as we have taken a long time to get them perfect.

Awesome Archaeologists

This week we spent the afternoon being archaeologists. We came up with lots of questions based on some jewellery that was found buried under the remains of a house in Colchester last summer. Who did it belong to? How old was it? Why did they hide it? Why didn’t they come back for it? We then set about working out possible ideas.

We decided that it belonged to a wealthy Roman woman and that the town had been attacked by the Celts. She was probably killed and so never returned for her jewellery.

Fenwick Treasure

After that, we worked to reconstruct a drawing of some pottery based on a few broken fragments. It was quite tricky repeating the pattern but we used symmetry to get the shape right.
