This half term, we will looking at a book entitled 'The Great Kapok Tree' by Lynne Cherry. This is a beautiful book which shows the diverse number of animals and plants that live in the Amazon rainforest. it also emphasizes the importance of working together to look after our ever changing world  After we have studied this book, we will be writing setting descriptions which we hope will make the reader feel that they are immersed in the rainforest. We will also continue to practise our retrieval and inference skills by looking at different extracts from this book each week. In  History we will be looking at the lives of the Anglo Saxons and what life was like for them. As the MTC is in June this year, we will be continuing to practise all times tables on a daily basis becoming familiar with the more challenging ones! In RE we will be looking at the key questions of: 'How do festivals show what matter to Muslims? and ' How and why people mark the significant events of life?' In Art and DT we will be making sculptures out of craft wire and after halfterm, we will be having a go at perfecting our sewing and stitching skills. In Science we will look at our 'Amazing Anatomy' and what habitats are around us as well as what comprises a food chain. This will culminate in our trip to a local RSPB reserve where we can observe animals and birds in their local habitats.

Spellings will be sent out on Mondays to practice at home before the tests on the following Monday.  Current spellings can be found online on the link to the right. Times tables are  set on Wednesdays and due back by the following Monday. We also strongly encourage the children to read at home. New books will be sent out on a Friday and will be expected in on a Wednesday with Reading Journals.

Please make sure you have your PE kits in school for our sporting activities: 4HR have PE on a Friday afternoon and 4SB have PE on a Thursday afternoon. Swimming will be on Wednesdays where the children also come dressed in their PE kits. Please make sure all earrings are removed or covered with tape before school on these days.
